Job Responsibilities:*Researches patients outstanding balances and insurance coverage details prior to the patient’s appointment*Prepares all documentation to support balances owed*Meets with patients (or cashiers on simple cases) to discuss the documentation and amounts owed*Responsible for immediately responding to frontline calls for assistance with *Patients who he/she has prepared the financial documentation for.*Responsible for collecting co-pays, deductibles, and other balances owed from patients*Responsible for creating daily report that details collection efforts made and amounts collected. Will be sent daily to the Collections Manager to consolidate report for all Financial Counselors and then send to BO Manager on daily basis.*Shifts could include nights and weekends since all clinic hours need to be covered.*Must be able to be proactive and communicate insurance issues to cashiers and others as needed to prevent future collection problems*Responsible for informing Supervisor if they foresee a difficult patient encounter and to prepare the best method for handling the situation before the patient arrives*Responsible for informing the patient of these items prior to the appointment timeQualifications:*College degree*Excellent oral and written English*Interacts well with colleagues to handle problems that arise regarding the revenue cycle.*Strong written and oral communication skills*Very organized with the ability to get along well with diverse personalities*Excellent analytical & problem solving abilities as well as, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail*Excellent Customer Service skills / attitude, ability to handle one-on-one contact with patients, ability to handle financial discussions confidently*Ability to handle cash / cash collection and be accountable for the entire cash collection process*Would be good to have medical billing and insurance experience*Additional education maybe substituted for experience and vice versa*Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance industry preferred*Working knowledge of pre-certification/billing/collection process*Knowledge of commercial insurance industry procedures*Knowledge of basic accounting preferred
