-About the department
Novo Nordisk is a focused healthcare company and a world leader in diabetes care. Novo Nordisk Research Center China(NNRCC) is an integrated part of Novo Nordisk R&D organization. Novo Nordisk wants to conduct research activities in China and expand its network to the scientific community. For these purposes, a new position is open for a highly qualified and motivated scientist within protein chemistry who plans to advance a career in China.
E.coli research China (ERC) is an integrated part of Novo Nordisk R&D organization, focusing on protein expression and purification and process development from E.coli. Department of E.coli Transfer Lab (ETL) is one of the ERC departments responsible for process development and process transfer and protein production in large scale in E.coli. We are highly motivated and productive team with high standards for our deliveries into the projects and an increasing focus on flexible processes in our daily work. We work with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment and value a high team spirit, good communication and dynamic collaboration between both scientists and technicians
-The job
You will be involved in cross-functional project teams with colleagues from many different scientific backgrounds both in China and at our head quarters in Denmark. You will contribute to several research projects with responsibility for recovery and purification process development, protein refolding, process upscaling, and protein production in large scale in E.coli. You will also be responsible for handing over of the E.coli process to CMC settings including documentation in relation to the transfer.
You will be reporting directly to the downstream team leader and your main internal contacts will be scientist colleagues, technicians and project members and managers both in Beijing and in Denmark. Furthermore, developing and maintaining a strong external network is also going to be an important part of your work.
You will be part of a team in a highly dynamic and challenging environment within NNRCC
Your tasks will include, but not be limited to:
Developing protein purification process and protein production in large scale and technology development in E.coli, including protein purification, chromatography, upscaling, protein recovery/refolding etc.Analyse data from experiments, write summaries, and prepare presentationsManage projects in a diverse team environmentFurthermore, you will be expected to lead the implementation of new technologies within protein and peptide chemistry as needed.
-Qualifications
You hold a Ph.D. in biochemistry, structural biology or related discipline with additional postdoctoral training or similar experience. You must demonstrate strong experience in at least one of the following areas: Protein recovery, protein purification, protein engineering, protein refolding, purification process development, pilot scale protein production.You have an excellent track record of original research as well as hands-on experience with state-of-the art protein chemistry techniques. Experience from a biotech/pharmaceutical R&D setting taking a therapeutic protein all the way from early stage to handing over to CMC setting is considered an advantage. You are flexible, open to new ideas, ambitious, innovative, result- oriented and of a good sense of humour. You have authority and thrive in an environment with individual responsibility and a high degree of personal impact in the projects but at the same time you are good at collaborating in teams.
